Tell me more about The INKEY list retinol serum

To explain how this product works, we first need to look at what exactly Retinol is. In simple terms, it’s a compound that is derived from Vitamin A. It’s particularly good at stimulating collagen production and boosting skin cell renewal. Our body’s natural collagen production levels start to slow once we reach our thirties, so ageing is something that we should start thinking about a lot sooner than most people realise, and a retinol-based serum or cream is a great place to start. With proven effectiveness at tackling fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, pigmentation issues and uneven skin texture, retinol is something of a super-food for your skin!

The long-acting formula in The INKEY List retinol serum gets to work straight away, delivering a deeply penetrating treatment that speeds up cell renewal, at the same time as calming and hydrating your skin. The serum contains a 1% retinol formula, alongside a 0.5% granactive retinoid, which is a little stronger. This is the ideal combination for maximum results and minimum chance of sensitivity issues. Squalane also helps boost moisture to leave your skin feeling soft and supple.

Our verdict

We trialled this product across a group of women aged from 30-50, with mixed skin types and a range of issues that the testers were hoping to tackle. Each tester applied the serum nightly, after their usual cleanse and tone routine. Only a tiny squirt of this serum is needed, and it’s simply dotted around the face, avoiding the area around the eyes. Our testers found that in the mornings, they could see a visible difference in terms of pigmentation, and blemishes and pimples were also reduced. One tester who has sensitive skin used The INKEY List retinol serum just 2-3 times a week at first, as she was ultra-careful about any potential sensitivity to the product, but in fact, she tolerated it just as easily as the other testers. Overall, we felt that this is a well-priced, effective serum that can make a real difference as part of a regular anti-ageing skincare routine.

If you’re ready to fight back against the signs of ageing, now’s the time to try The INKEY List retinol serum.
