Another hit from The Ordinary: Glycolic Acid Toner
It’s a routine that’s as old as the hills, but we never tire of talking about how important it is to cleanse, tone and moisturise every day, and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner is ideal as the toning element of that routine. Packed with active ingredients that produce genuine and visible results within days, this toner is well worth a look. Read on for some in-depth info on just how good it really is.
Is The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner up to the job?
We always recommend that people spend a little time understanding exactly what the active ingredients in skincare products are, and what they do. So firstly, we need to explain what glycolic acid actually is, and why The Ordinary has chosen to use it in this toner.
Glycolic acid is a naturally occurring alpha hydroxy acid (or AHA), and it’s incredibly popular within the skincare industry because of its excellent exfoliating properties. As well as exfoliation, glycolic acid helps rejuvenate the skin, leaving it visibly fresher and brighter. You’ll find the concentration strengths of glycolic acid are typically given in skincare products, with facial peels usually having a higher strength of glycolic acid than daily-use toners or cleansers. At 7% glycolic acid, this toner is just about perfect in terms of strength, for use once a day.
As with all glycolic acid skincare products, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner should be used with care, and you should avoid prolonged exposure to strong sunlight after use, as AHAs can increase sensitivity to the sun’s rays, leading to sunburn.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner also contains extracts of aloe vera and Tasmanian Pepperberry. These extracts help soothe the skin and reduce redness, and there’s Ginseng Root added in to the mix to give a brighter, more energised look to your skin.
All in all, we found this toner to be effective and pleasant to use. You could definitely feel a little tingle after applying it, and you could tell that it was lifting out every last trace of daily grime and dead cells. It left our skin feeling deep cleansed, invigorated and revived, and we felt that there were clear benefits building up with extended use.
