The thought was there
Ordered this product because it's one of the very few serums with both TXA and vitamin C which should be an amazing combination to brighten and even skin tone - however, after I bought it, the more I thought about this product, the less I understood it. Vitamin C tends to be a morning-use active, especially for people who exfoliate or use retinol in the PM but the texture of this serum is slimy and sticky and is not appropriate for morning use. It starts to foam up if applied on wet skin. Vitamin C is extremely photosensitive and normally comes in brown or opaque bottles so already the fact that this was in a clear bottle didn't make sense. I emailed glow hub asking for details on the stability of this serum and any specific storage instructions as well as the strength of the vitamin C. The reply was that this is a stable product with no specific storage instructions and it turns out this was because the vitamin C concentration in this serum is extremely low - while I don't remember the exact percentage (possibly 1-2%), it was a tiny fraction of the 15-20% normally found in true vitamin C serums, and considering how low down TXA also is in the ingredients, the same probably applies to TXA too. It also doesn't have any of the basic ingredients found in most well formulated serums (HA, niacinamide etc). Any skincare product which does not advertise the strength of its actives should be a red flag. Essentially, you are paying for water and glycerin which will hydrate the skin (and are ingredients found in almost every other skin care product anyway) but will do nothing for scarring and hyperpigmentation. 1 star for the idea of a Vitamin C and TXA combination serum but 0 for actually delivering on the promise.
