Definitely an overnight cream
Whilst all other "night" moisturisers can be used also during the day, I would find that difficult with this moisturiser. It is extremely thick, sort of gooey, and definitely to be put on after cleansing at night. I don't know if I would buy it again because of this unusual consistency although I did buy it as ESPA is such a good brand and I hope it's doing what it says it can!

The BEST night cream/mask

At first this feels very thick and balmy on the skin - apply sparingly and allow to sink in for at least 5 minutes before bed time (quick to absorb). Wow, in the morning my skin is plump, deeply hydrated and radiant. I use this all year round (combo skin) and apply liberally if my skin is drier or in the winter.
